Congratulations to Vanessa Sallier who was first woman in the BHAA Dublin Fire Brigade 5k in Marino on Sunday morning, finishing in a time of 19.47. Jackie Sullivan ran 23.29 to win the F50 category. Ronan Kearns was 4th overall and 2nd M35 in 16.49, and Terry Clarke was 1st M55 in 20.03. Full results are available on the BHAA site. Congratulations to Sean Hehir who was a close 3rd in the 10000m at the National Track & Field Championships at Morton Stadium, finishing less than two seconds behind the second placed athlete in a time of 30.17.29. Also on Saturday afternoon, Lawrence Boran, Jason Reid and Ronan Kearns competed in the 800m heats, clocking times of 2.00.15, 2.03.91 and 2.04.24 respectively. Paul Fleming ran 4.10.27 in the first 1500m heat, finishing in 13th place in 4.10.27, and Mitchell Byrne finished 10th in the second heat in 4.02.63. On Sunday Paul Stephenson was second in the first of two 5000m heats in a time of 15.30.25, followed by Matthew Horrigan (5th in 15.41.02), Robert Murphy (6th in 15.45.95), Ciaran Aylward (11th in 16.27.87) and David Scanlon (13th in 16.34.06). Louis McCarthy ran 15.30.01 in the second race, finishing in 19th position. Well done to everyone who represented the club at the championships. At the Fingal 10k road race in Swords today, Eoghan McGinley made a comeback to finish 5th in 33.14. Lorraine Nolan ran 40.10 and Terry Clarke ran 40.33 to finish second in the M55 category. Full results are on the Dublin Marathon website. Well done to all.
Congratulations to Mitchell Byrne and Lawrence Boran who had great runs in the 800m event last Friday in a groundbreaking evening that saw seven course records broken and ten athletes recording sub four minute times for the Morton Mile. Mitch competed in the 800m C race, finishing a close 4th in a time of 1.54.98, and Lawrence was joint 4th in the D race in 1.59.18. Well done to both. Well done to Mitchell Byrne won ran 3.58 for 1500m in the Graded Meet in Tallaght last night, winning the first of two races in the A grade and scoring the fastest time overall. Louis McCarthy and Paul Fleming also ran in the A grade, clocking 4.09 and 4.14 respectively. In the B grade David Scanlon (4.12), Jason Reid (4.15) and Ciaran Aylward (4.20) all had good runs, and Tom Cuddy was second in the D grade race, crossing the line in 4.56 and holding off the third placed athlete by a fraction of a second. The warm weather over the past week did not deter Rathfarnham athletes from producing some great performances on the road. On Wednesday evening Seán Hehir was 2nd in the Lisburn Half Marathon in a time of 68.09, less than a minute behind Kenyan athlete Freddie Sittuk who broke away during the hilly second half. Jonathan Hughes was first home from the club in the Michael Manning 10k in Dunshaughlin on Saturday night, finishing 15th overall in a time of 33.18. Maria Dolan was 4th woman and 1st O/45 in 37.50, followed by Eoghain McGinley (214th in 40.04) and Lorraine Nolan (19th woman in 40.21). Results are available on the Precision Timing site.
