In good conditions, the third Juvenile T&F League meeting took place at Tallaght AC. On the track, first into action was Girls U/14 400m, Sophie Ritchie was third. Boys U/15 Eoin Bonas 5th. Our younger athletes where also in action, Girls U/10 500m, heat 1 Jodie Ritchie 1st, Hayley Stapleton 7th. Heat 2 Philipa Mc Glynn 5th, Isobel Burge also ran. U/10 Boys 500m Fionn Mc Glynn 4th and making his club debut Ben Mulvihill placed 8th. U/11 Girls 600m Zoie Ritchie 1st, Edel Mc Creery 5th. U/11 Boys 600m Cian Mulvihill ran. U/12 Boys 600m Ryan O' Neill 4th, Dara Mulvihill 5th, Fionn Kelly also ran. U/12 Girls 600m Charlotte Burge ran. U/13 Girls 600m Lucie Ritchie 4th and Abbey Kelly also ran. Well done to the large gang of Rathfarnham athletes who represented the club at the Tallaght AC 5k yesterday, which incorporated the Dublin Novice Championships and saw a clean sweep of wins for our women’s senior and novice teams. Clare Sullivan was first female overall in a great time of 18.45, followed by Donna Mahon (3rd overall and 1st F40 in 18.54), Valerie Cole (4th overall and second novice in 19.22), Lynne Hennessy (5th overall and 3rd novice in 19.27), Vanessa Sallier (1st F45 category in 20.27),Aisling O’Connor (4th novice in 20.48), Suzanne Ryan (21.05), Alyson Caraher (21.23), Bernadette Crowley (22.07), Miriam McCormack (22.27), Zoe Melling (22.41), Laura Flynn (23.36), Jackie Kingston (26.13), Roisin Kelly (27.28), Sandra Redmond (27.35), and Emma Bennett (28.27). Rosin, Sandra and Emma were all running their debut race for the club. There were some impressive performances from our male athletes too, with Ronan Kearns 4th overall and 1st in the M35 category in 16.20, followed by Aaron Browne (11th overall and third novice in 17.06), Greg Byrne (15th in 17.18), Paul Fleming (1st M40 in 17.22), Michael Murphy (17.58), Neil Skelton (18.04), Tom Cuddy (33rd M50 in 18.38), Ger Stephenson (19.40), Derek Bain (20.04), Eric Cullen (20.07), Oisin Boland (20.51), Eamon Tierney (21.33) and PJ Claffey (24.26). On Saturday the second round in the leagues took place in cold, sunny dry conditions. First off was the 200m U/14 Girls, all decided on times. In heat 1 Sophie Ritchie was 2nd and in heat 2 Laura Mills was 5th. In the Girls U/15 Isabelle Doyle was 3rd. In the U/15 Boys Ian Kirwan was 3rd. In the U/16 Amy Mc Cabe was 3rd. In the U/10 Girls heat 1 Jodi Ritchie was 1st, in heat 2 Sophie Maxwell was 2nd & Philipa Mc Glynn 3rd, and in heat 3 Hayley Stapleton was 5th. In the Boys U/10 Fionn Mc Glynn was 3rd. In the Girls U/11 Heat 1 Zoe Ritchie was 1st, and in heat 2 Carolainn Mc Cabe was 6th. In the Boys U/11 heat 1 Dara Mulvihill was 3rd, and in heat 2 Ryan O'Neill was 3rd. Cillian Mc Cabe ran in the U/12 Boys. In the Girls U/13 heat 1 Lucie Ritchie was 4th & Anna Doyle 5th. In heat 2 Abbey Kelly was 8th, in heat 3 Elena Cullen 8th, and in heat 4 Anna Mc Creery 4th. In the Boys U/13 Billy Conroy Roche was 4th. Next on track was the 1000m. In the Girls U/15 Ellie Stapleton was 6th, and in the Girls U/16 Amy Mc Cabe was 3rd. In the Boys U/16 Cormac Gaffney was 6th. Away from the track a selection of the field events: In the Girls U/13 High Jump Anna Mc Creery jumped 1.25m. The Secondary Schools qualification places were up for grabs this week at an extremely cold and wet Morton Stadium. There was great success for Rathfarnham girls competing at this event in their school colours. Alannah Fasenfeld (Tresians) Minor Girls, 2nd Discus, 75m Hurdles 2nd in heat and 6th in final. Also on Sophies Relay A team. Clodagh Cullen (Muckcross Park College) Minor Girls, 75m hurdles 3rd in heat, 4x100m Relay A 2nd in heat and 4th in final. Caoimhe Kelders (Muckcross Park College) Minor Girls, 1st in high jump, 4x100m Relay B 2nd in heat 6th in final and javelin.
