On Friday in perfect conditions the first of this year's Relay Championships took place at Tallaght AC. The relays always prove to be a exciting event and with top teams entered throughout the field, the night was full of high quality action. Rathfarnham had two girls' relay teams in action, both in the Under 13 Age Group. Starting in the second of three heats, Rathfarnham A toed the line. Alannah Fasenfeld got a perfect start, running strongly to Clodagh Cullen, who in turn set down a blistering leg. Laura Mills making her Championship debut put in a fine third leg. Fortune Chukwu ran a magnificent anchor leg to bring the girls home in second position and thus gaining automatic qualification to the Final. Rathfarnham B ran in the third and final heat. Featuring two girls making their Championship debuts, Marina Fitzsimons and Elle Mc Eneaney. The team which also featured Sarah Jane Phelan and Yamina Abdelatif finished 6th. In a strong final which featured quartets that had medalled before in Relay Championships, our A team gave a good account of themselves. Again a great start, and the girls were second at half way, Another great finishing anchor leg by Fortune just wasn't enough and the girls came in 7th. In the Girls U/14 1500m, Ellie Stapleton finished 10th. Well done to all our athletes and parents! Full results will appear on the Dublin Athletics Board website. Next up are the Dublin Championships Even Age Championships on Friday 19th June 2015 in Tallaght AC @ 7pm.
