Team Gold for Masters Women in Raheny 5 Mile Road Race, Sunday 29th January 2012 PDF Print Email

Congratulations to Vanessa Sallier (32.12), Maria Dolan (32.26), Helen Ingram (34.07) and Norita Murphy (34.23) who won the team prize in the Masters Women's category in the AXA Raheny 5 mile road race today. Vanessa and Helen also won their individual categories. Maria ran a pb and recorded a chip time of 31.51. The wet and cold conditions didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the 2053 athletes who lined up in Raheny this afternoon - a record entry despite the downpour. First man home for the club was Shane O'Neill in a time of 27.34, followed by Colm Murray (28.30), Willie Morris (28.03), Peter Toomey (28.40), Terry McConnon (28.51), Brendan Hogan (29.09), and Diarmuid Coogan (31.41). Sean Hehir wins the John Treacy Dungarvan 10 mile Road Race, Sunday 29th Jan 2012 PDF Print Email

Sean Hehir registered yet another victory today when easily winning the John Treacy Dungarvan 10 mile road race in 49.25. Sean is burning up the roads these days and was well ahead of Paddy Hamilton, Annadale Striders and Gary O'Hanlon, Clonliffe was 3rd. Next for the Club came Edwin Keville (34th in 56.49), Gerry Doyle (39th in 57.24), Joe Casey (48th in 57.56), Greg Byrne (50th in 57.58), Derek Bain (62.51), Eddie O'Mahoney (63.30), Helen Leonard (65.19) and Grainne Connor (68.00). The highlights at the morning session at todays Leinster Senior, Masters and Junior Indoor Championships in Nenagh were David Scanlon winning the Junior Mens 3k in 9.48 and Stephen Gaffney coming second in the Junior Triple Jump. In the Senior 3k Ronan Kearns was 4th, while in the Masters 3k race Terry Clarke was 1st in the V5 Category and PJ Claffey was 2nd in the V4. In the 400m Stuart McCleane was 1st in V1 and John Hogan 3rd, Daniel Keogh ran well to come 3rd in V2, and John McHugh won the V4 category.

At the afternoon session the medal haul continued. Paul Fleming scored double gold in the 800m and 1,500m in V1. Gerard Claffey was 2nd in the Senior Mens 800m. He also came 3rd in the heat of the 200m. In the Masters 800m John McHugh picked up his 2nd Gold in the V4 Category, while Terry Clarke was 2nd. in his V5 Category. Owen McLoughlin won gold in the Masters 1,500m V3. Well done to all. Some pictures of todays runners are in the Gallery and full results will be in the Athletics Leinster website.
