Sean Hehir achieved his life long ambition today by taking his first national senior title in winning the National Half Marathon in Waterford in a time of 65.24 which was also a PB. Brian Maher Kilkenny was 2nd in 66.40 and Alan O'Shea, Bantry was 3rd in 66.50. Sean was joined by Barry Minnock in 4th place in another PB of 67.20 and Mark Ryan in 7th in a PB of 69.34 to take the men's senior team title from Clonliffe and Raheny. These were closely followed by Paul Fleming 17th in 70.41, Jason Reid 28th in 72.15, Kevin Bolger 43rd in 74.39, Johnathan Hughes 76.14, Ronan Kearns 77.01, Brendan Hogan 77.03, 2nd O.50, Edwin Keville 77.36, Joe Casey 78.49 3rd O.50, John Farrelly 79.45, Greg Byrne 79.59, Tommie Bishop 81.21, Donna Mahon 81.42, Owen McLoughlin 81.51, Eilish Connery 82.10, Terry Clarke 84.43 PB by 2 mins., Helen Leonard 87.71 PB, Grainne Connor 94.54 PB, Vanessa Sallier 95.11, Norita Murphy 95.39, PJ Claffey 96.55, Zoe Melling 98.13 and Aisling Tohill 128.50. We had 26 Club athletes in this race and that looks like a record as well. In addition to winning the senior Mens team title (Sean, Barry and Mark), we also won the Mens Masters 50+ team (Brendan, Joe and Tommie), second in the Senior ladies team (Donna, Eilis and Helen) to Raheny, Masters Ladies 2nd team (Vanessa, Norita and Zoe) to Tallaght AC and the Masters Men were 4th team.
