The final action of this years Dublin Championships was the Even Age Relays. Held in warm conditions which included heavy bouts of rain, just in case anyone was enjoying the sun too much!!
First into action was Girls U12 4 x 100m team, Sophie Maxwell ran a fantastic first leg backed up by Ciara Murphy, Caolainn Mc Cabe and the strong finishing Claudia Manning, the girls finished 3rd in heat to get themselves a place in the Final. The Girls came 5th in Final. Next up was U12 Boys 4 x 100m team; Ryan O’Neill, Fionn Kelly, Cormac Keogh and fast finisher Tom O’Regan. The Boys came 5th in heat, qualifying for Final as fastest losers. The Boys gave a good account of themselves to finish 5th in Final. Girls U14 4 x 100m team; Anna Doyle, Elena Cullen, Sofia Coleman and Sofia Hyland came 5th in the fastest heat, just missing out in a place in the Final. Boys U14 4 x 100m team came the closest to medalling on the night. Placing 3rd in their heat the Boys went into Final as contenders. Billy Conroy Roche took off like a rocket running the first leg, Daire Sullivan 2nd and Cillian Mc Cabe exchanged strongly to set up Daniel Chukwu. Daniel ran a tremendous final leg which finished in a close blanket finish with a few clubs, our Boys finishing 5th overall. Fifth seemed to be our position for the night!!
Well done to all our Relay teams that competed in Santry and Irishtown. The Relays create great club spirit among our young Athletes, which gives a contagious and exciting atmosphere on the night! Great to see all our young athletes who had competed earlier on the night staying on to cheer on their club mates in their events! Well done to everyone who competed or supported during the Championships!
