The Irish Runner 5 mile took place on  Saturday 18th June 2017 in the Phoenix Park. Seán Hehir came second in a time of 24:29 showing great form in his lead up to the World Athletics Championships marathon in August. Paul Flemming had a speedy 22nd in 27:41, Ciarán Aylward 29:48, Barry Gatenby 32:05, Derek Bain 32:18, Shane Grehan 32:32, Suzanne Ryan 34:13 (our only lady and a PB!), Séamus Gorman 35:30. Well done to everybody.

As most of you know we had two athletes from the club qualify for the 2017 CSIT World Sports Games Riga, Latvia and they certainly performed well. Stephen Gaffney did the double by winning the 100m Gold in a time of 10.78s. He followed that with 200m Gold in a time of 21.52s which is a new PB! Carla Sweeney who was the Ladies Captain for the competition won the Bronze medal in the 800m. Not a bad haul of international medals. Well done to both of them.

Congratulations to Eilis Connery who competed for Ireland in the World Trail Championships 2017 Badia-Prataglia, Italy, 10th June 2017. In the steep forested mountains of northern Tuscany the course was 50km with nearly 3000m of climbing. Greg Byrne seen here at the 41km feed station with Eilis was along as part of the Irish Official/Coaching/support team. Well done to our two Rathfarnham WSAF AC athletes.
